State Health Insurance Assistance Program
A good local reference for finding information about Medicare, Medicaid, and financial assistance for Low-Income Beneficiaries, insurance billing issues and grievances as well as general Medicare and health insurance related questions. Social Security Administration
A good place to start to learn basic information about Medicare. Newly eligible seniors can apply for their Part A and Part B Medicare cards on this website or can do so by calling or visiting their local Social Security Administration office. Lower income seniors can apply for LIS: Low Income Subsidy which helps cover prescprition costs for eligible seniors. Phone: 800-772-1213 (24 hour phone line).
Maryland Senior Prescription Drug Assistance Program
Lists all Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) and Medicare Advantage Plans that include prescription drug coverage available in Maryland. Eligible seniors can apply to receive assistance (help paying premiums) for their PDP or Medicare Advantage Plan premiums. Phone: 800-551-5995 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
